Vip.com released on its website that it’ll be shutting down.

Posted by admin | July 29, 2011 | Posted in: Online Poker Strategy | Comments (0)

Vip.com announced on its website that it will be closing down effective Aug. 1, putting a finish to the offshore’s lengthy and prosperous run as one of the industry’s premier sportsbooks. Vip.com is praised for having fast payouts and outstanding customer service, and they once carried an A+ rating by SportsBookReview, the leading independent sportsbook review site.

This closure is unfortunate, But VIP should be applauded for its transparency. They posted the image you see here, on their site more than two weeks in advance of their planned shutdown. This has become the exception as opposed to the rule in the gambling industry. In many cases, customers don’t learn about a gaming site closing down until after it’s happened, which creates a mess of a situation for those with funds tied up in their accounts.

When a company goes out of business, the players are in limbo and the fate of their cash are considerably in jeopardy. Most dont get paid. Some companies do honor their obligation and pay up, but most dont.

A VIP representative said users will be notified of their options shortly. All account holderswill be notified by e-mail. But there could be some strings attached. A VIP customer service representative told a player that only accounts with more than $260 will be able to request a payout. The representative also noted that the decision was made “due to industry and money processing complaints.”

VIP hasn’t been taking part in the United States market since 2006, but they still serviced United States players that were users of their site before they left the market. If your looking for a good online casino, online poker or online sportsbook vist a portal like playingpokerusa.com

Pols Playing Poker—Badly
The debt ceiling negotiations have become a tedious game of dorm room poker. Barack Obama is the dealer, and the deck is stacked in his favor. He’s enjoying the game. Even so, he’s not as good as he thinks he is: Witness his comment last week to House Republican leader Eric Cantor, “Eric, don’t call my bluff,” which suggests the president doesn’t know it’s a bad idea to tell your opponent you’re …

Collins takes chip lead at World Series of Poker
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 26-year-old poker professional who used to play online before federal indictments shut down the top poker websites to Americans took the chip lead Sunday at the World Series of Poker main event, then added to his stack by taking out last year’s third-place finisher.

How The Debt-Ceiling Negotiations Are Like Poker
If you take away the politics and talking points from the debt-ceiling showdown, you end up with something that looks a lot like a Texas Hold ’em poker game. Both sides are posturing, taking risks, making big bets and, of course, bluffing.

Internet Gambling’s Gray Monday might have more bite than Black Friday

Posted by admin | July 11, 2011 | Posted in: US Poker Gambling Law | Comments (0)

More domain names and gaming operations were seized on Monday May 24th 2011, which we aptly call Gray Monday. This time the industry leaders were not the only web sites seized but smaller web sites also. Even more important is several different sectors in the market were seized. There were domains seized in online poker, casinos, sports books and even bingo. This may send more of a message through the market than Black Friday.

The internet poker community was hit hard and drastically when the three biggest players in the industry had their domain names seized. This sent a shockwave through the market and millions of poker players were left wondering what happens next. What did happen next was that the three biggest poker rooms soon left the US market and their players were left in limbo. They now had to find a new place to play and their funds were in jeopardy. Although the three poker internet sites worked out a deal with the Department of Justice to return the players money, no one we have talked to has gotten any money from them when this article was written.

After Black Friday, gradually things started to settle down and players found a new poker home and continued to play online. Many thought the Department of Justice had made their point and were going to let things get back to normal as much as could be. But with the action on Gray Monday the hammer came down on the market as a whole. The shock this time is in the form of all sectors of the online gambling market. Homeland Security made the seizures this time and the industry is in disarray. No one seems to be safe whether large or small players in the market. It is just a matter of time to see the reactions to these seizures. Unfortunately, now we may see online gambling web sites in all sectors start leaving the US market. We have seen some online internet sites change their domain names to an international extension as a result of these seizures. They seem to be positioning themselves to be immune from the US government actions by having these domains outside the US.

The feeling out there is that no one knows what will happen next and once again the internet players could be sent scrambling again. It a watch and see attitude nowadays, but the impact could be far more reaching than Black Friday. As a result, it does not matter how big or small of an gaming operation you are or what sector of internet gaming you’re in, everyone can be touched by the government.

The results so far are that US poker players haven’t had to move to different sites as of yet, but new sign ups may need to go to a new website address to sign up. Same holds true with US casino players, there has been no effect yet from Gray Monday other than having a new domain name to register.
